WHECO’s customer in the Caribbean had experienced an accident where their rough-terrain crane was not properly secured to a low-bed trailer and overturned, causing considerable structural damage to the upper frame, crushing the cab, and various other sheet-metal body parts.
The logistics of sending the parts to the USA for repair made the project uneconomical, so WHECO came up with a solution.
WHECO sourced a salvaged cab and fenders from a like model in the USA, completely refurbished them, and sent two technicians and specialty tooling to the job site to install these parts and make the other necessary repairs to bring the crane back to a good, useable condition.
The benefit to the customer was that they saved on the logistics and had their crane back in service and generating revenue within 12 weeks.
