This Link-Belt HC238A was brought to WHECO when problems developed under the turntable bearing mounting ring on the deck plate of the carrier. The steel was delaminating and cracking. Additionally, we found that the bearing surface was not milled flat. The customer was told by the manufacturer that the carrier could not be repaired, so he brought the crane to WHECO looking for a solution. WHECO provided an engineered repair proposal to remove and replace the damaged deck plate, and using a WHECO designed portable milling machine, milled the bearing surface smooth. The carrier was repaired and put back into revenue-generating service in less than 60 days.
