A new Demag CC1500 was damaged in transport while being delivered to the customer. The repair scope of work included structural repairs to the superstructure and mast, rewiring the electrical/electronic system, cab damage, and cosmetic sheet-metal repairs. An OEM repair proposal involved returning the crane to Germany. The customer wanted an expedited and cost-mitigated repair, so WHECO was contacted to provide a proposal. The project was awarded to us and we completed the job at our Richland, WA, facility in approximately 150 days. The engineered, compliant, and documented repair enabled the crane to be commissioned and put into service in record time, with significant cost savings to both the customer and the insurance company.
