This Manitex boom tip section was repaired at our Richland, WA crane repair facility. The wire rope was reeved over the plate when it should have been under. By reeving over, the wire ripe came in contact with the plate causing damage to both the plate and rope.

Some of the most common hidden issues are past repairs that were not properly performed. These types of issues can range from shafts being welded to improper welding of cracks due to damage or accidents. It can also involve the use of wrong or “will fit” parts.
WHECO completed extensive structural repairs on this Manitex torque box. Welds in the boom truck frame were repaired, and damaged doubler plates were removed and replaced where they were cracked and bent. The boom truck frame was then sand-blasted, repainted, and returned to service.
The cost and long lead time on the cab afforded WHECO the opportunity to provide a time and cost effective repair solution You can see that we were able to salvage much of the original cab and put the crane back into revenue generating service.
