A Manitowoc 2250 suffered multiple broken teeth on the swing bearing and swing pinion. The crane was located at approximately 10,000 feet in the Andes Mountains outside of Santiago, Chile. With a demanding production schedule, replacement of the bearing and pinion was not a practical solution. WHECO was called upon to provide a safe, time and cost effective structural repair. Two key technicians were dispatched and spent 2 weeks providing precise welding services to properly reattach the teeth. A representative of the crane owner said though he was not easy to impress, was very impressed with WHECO’s performance.
