This accident-damaged Kolbelco CK1000 tip section was given an engineered repair by WHECO’s Houston, TX, facility. The repairs included two engineered chord repairs, 13 lacing replacements, and repairs to the rollers and sheave brackets. All the repairs were welds, non-destructive, tested for quality. The tip was returned for load testing and re-certification. Detailed documentation was included with the repair.
